The leaves of the tobacco plant contain a lot of different components such as the addictive chemical nicotine, many cancer-causing chemicals and especially polyaromatic hydrocarbons.
So, what is Tobacco to you?
Some will say that it can be found inn cigarettes, cigars, pipes or even chewing gum. The nicotine from the tobacco can also be extracted from the leaf and use it to create novel nicotine products such as e-cigarettes, vape pens or some even use it for nicotine replacement treatments to treat tobacco addictions through chewing gums.
Why do we use tobacco?
Tobacco have been used by us for many years for a variety of reasons. Even though tobacco has been studied and stated that it can be harmful for the human body, for some people, tobacco has played a very important role in ceremonies and is used to celebrate special occasions such as the birth of a baby. Some might use it as a way to increase their alertness or to relax and connect with friends during social gathering which sometimes falls under peer pressuring.
Someone might use a cigarette as a way to release stress or use it to relax themselves after work. This process keeps on going until the point where they become addicted to it and may associate smoking with those feeling, the feeling of stress or irritated.
How to make healthier choices about tobacco
There have been studies that shows that people do know that tobacco use is not heathy but it is still hard for some people to cut down on the number of cigarettes they smoke, let alone give up on smoking fully. It is always important for us to know the alternative to tobacco use or knowing the steps to ensure that our use is the least harmful as possible. For example, chewing tobacco or vaporizing nicotine in a vape device is a lot less harmful than smoking the substance. In conclusion, if you are looking to stop smoking cigarettes or slow down then the best solution is chewing or vaping.
